My friend began developing this mental health app to teach himself to code. He soon got a job as a programmer, but kept working on MoodSpace over the next few years, until he eventually received funding to rebuild it properly.

I joined to write 10,000+ words, which included four mental health exercises, meditation scripts, training, examples and theory.

I was used to dipping into a new industry and having to do a lot of research, but I felt a much greater sense of responsibility here, since we were dealing with people’s mental health. As a result I spent most of my time reading and rereading books on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-based Meditation, Behavioural Activation and Positive Psychology.

When we were able to get everything checked by psychologists, they were really happy with it. It also sometimes gets recommended by therapists, according to our reviewers.

MoodSpace is available on Android, where it now has over 100,000 downloads and a 4.2 rating. There are some really heart-warming reviews.
